On October 25th 2018, President of Humphreys University(HU) Dr. Robert G.Humphreys paid a work visit to our university with a 4-member delegation. In 4th meeting room of the administration building, both sides have conducted friendly and in-depth exchanges on collegiate cooperation programs. Vice President Mr. Xia Li attended the meeting which was hosted by Mr. Liu Hui, Director of International Office.
At the meeting, Vice President Xia Li, briefly introduced HUE from the aspects of history, geographical advantage and the accumulated experience in joint education. He pointed out that HUE has always been placing great emphasis on China-foreign joint education programs. Based on the successful operation in Electronic Information Science and Technology program and IT program with Florida Institute of Technology, USA, and Southern Institute of Technology, New Zealand respectively, as a normal university featuring in teacher education, HUE listed teacher education joint education program as the third key program in its future development plan. It is earnestly expected that the two universities could achieve win-win development through forging the platform of joint education program and mutual promotion.
President Robert Humphrys made a brief introduction to HU. He added that HU was founded initially as a normal university. Having a similar development history and sharing a lot in common, the two universities could kick off the cooperation with this visit. Mr. Jack Zhong, Dean of the Department of International Education, HU, briefed the differences of teacher education between China and US, teaching concept of HU, talent cultivation mode and the outstanding alumni from the law program in recent years.
Mr. Le Sanming, Party Secretary of the Educational Science School, proposed four cooperation programs, namely, 2+2 collegiate exchange, mid and short-term student exchange, teacher education course co-development and application for China-Foreign joint education program in pre-school education concerning the new opportunities released by the two newly-implemented documents of Ministry of Education — "Teacher Education Revitalization Action Plan(2018-2022)" and "Proposals on Implementing the Excellent Teacher Training Program 2.0" after presenting the School to American guests, which received a positive response from HU side. Associate professor Ms. Chen Rong, Chief of Pre-School Education program made a presentation of the major too.
Finally, Mr. Xia Li and Dr. Robert Humphrys signed the Letter of Intent for Collegiate Cooperation between HUE and HU, which shaped the basic framework for future cooperation. After the meeting, the delegation visited the Center of Competency-based Training for Teachers and highly appreciated the teachers’ professional skills training system, experimental environment and innovative practices of the center.
